Dr. Elias Farajaje´-Jones

Prof. Dr. Elias Farajaje´-Jones, formerly Professor of History of Religions at Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC, is currently Professor of Cultural Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. In addition to his grassroots work as a queer/HIV activist, he has developed and taught courses on HIV and religion/homophobia, religion/erotophobia and religion for the last 12 years. Much of his work is dedicated to the archaeological work of digging up how interlocking oppressions have complicated and held back our responses to HIV/AIDS. He is now working as a video artist doing films on queer artists of colour living with HIV. He dreams that his 3 year old child will live in a world where there is liberty and justice for every piece of each one of us.

Dr. Melinda Keane, SHCJ

Dr. Melinda Keane, SHCJ is a member of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. After spending 25 years in education, mostly at Rosemont College and in interfaith chaplaincy of the Claremont Colleges in California, she worked for the Citizens' Action League, a statewide community organizing group in California. Later she served on the administrative team of the American province of her congregation and then served as coordinator of parish social ministry in the diocese of Houma, LA. In 1991, along with four other SHCJ from United States, African and European provinces, she began a community in Chad-the Society's first in Francophone Africa where she worked in AIDS education and support. At ANIN, she is the Editor of its newsletter, INTERaction, compiles the annual report and provides for various other office tasks. She works closely with the National Catholic AIDS Network on its Parish Project, "Many Threads, One Weave" and is a founding member of the DC Catholic AIDS Network. She has a Bachelor's Degree in English from Rosemont College, a Master's Degree in English from the Catholic University of America and a Ph.D. in English from Loyola University in Chicago.

Rev. Dr. Lacey is currently Director of the AIDS Education and Training Center, Colleges of Osteopathic and Human Medicine, Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He is also a member of the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry and an adjunct faculty member of the Bishop Gaul Theological College, University of Zimbabwe, Harare, Zimbabwe. He is an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and as a volunteer directs the work of the AIDS Ministry Network for the Christian Church. He serves as Chair of the Michigan Statewide HIV/AIDS Care Council (for Ryan White CARE Act), director of the Great Lakes to Tennessee Valley AETC, CDC Prevention Partner, and co-chair of the statewide planning group to bring HIV/AIDS prevention and care into greater partnership.

Since 1985, Holly McAlpen has served as coordinator of Social Ministries in the Episcopal Diocese of California. She is the immediate past-chair of the AIDS National Interfaith Network. From 1986 to 1995, she served on the Board of Directors of the National Episcopal AIDS Coalition with four of those years as it's President. Ms. McAlpen is a member of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.
