Fr. Tom Orians, S.A.

Fr. Thomas Orians, S.A. is the current chair of the national AIDS project of Dignity/USA, the national organization of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Catholics. He represents Dignity on the American Association of World Health AIDS Day Committee. He also represents Dignity on the AIDS National Interfaith Network's Council of National Religious AIDS Networks. He is involved with the work of the NAMES Project as a panel maker and a quilt display coordinator. He has been involved in outreach projects to those living with AIDS for over fifteen years. He holds a B.A. in Theater from St. Louis University and an M.S. in Counseling from Central Connecticut State University and an M.A. in Moral Theology from the Washington Theological Union. He is the Co-Editor of Theological Pastoral Resources, a collection of brief works on homosexuality, pastoral ministry and the Church. Fr. Orians was ordained in 1992 and is a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. He is presently Director of Development for corporate and foundation giving for his religious community.

Dr. Tina Pippin is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. She teaches biblical studies, ethics and women's studies. Publications include Death and Desire: The Rhetoric of Gender in the Apocalypse of John and Apocalyptic Bodies: The Biblical End of the World in Text and Image. She is one of the founders of an activist educator group, CLAASP, Creating Links Among Activist Scholars and People, a group interested in liberatory pedagogies and education for social change, and is currently involved with students at Agnes Scott in relationship with the Teen Parenting Class at Decatur High School. She is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church.

Angela Powell-Young is Chief of the Technical Assistance Branch of the HIV/AIDS Bureau at the Health Resources and Services Administration where she is responsible for coordinating the provision of Technical Assistance to grantees and communities receiving funds through the Ryan White CARE Act. Previously, she was Director of AIDS Support Services at Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington, DC, served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Mautner Project and was HIV Policy Instructor at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. She is completing her ninth year on the Diaconate of the Metropolitan Community Church of Washington, DC and holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Planning and Administration.

Major Dr. Herbert Rader

Major Dr. Herbert Rader is a board-certified surgeon and fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Cornell University Medical College and assistant attending surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Rader has been an officer in The Salvation Army for almost thirty years and is currently medical advisor for the northeast. He is Vice-President for clinical affairs for New York Presbyterian Hospital Healthcare Network and medical director of the International Center for the Disabled in New York City. He served at the Catherine Booth Hospital in India and the Army's Booth Memorial Medical Center in New York where he was instrumental in making it the first AIDS-designated Center in Queens. He has been influential in guiding public policy and promoting HIV/AIDS services within The Salvation Army.
